Apply for a Nordstrom Grant
Nordstrom is dedicated to supporting causes that provide basic needs to youth and their families. We award over $2 million in Community Grants each year across the U.S. and Canada, as part of this commitment. Does your organization work within the Education, Health Care or Human Services space? We accept grant applications from September 1–November 1.
Literacy: until third grade you learn to read—after third grade you read to learn. Because of this, literacy is a key part of our education focus.
Early Childhood Development: supporting our younger youth in development and educational access.
High School Readiness + Graduation: preparing students for high school and life after graduation.
Preventative Care: providing preventative care to youth and their families.
Supportive Health Services: ensuring that youth and their families are supported if a child requires long-term treatment.
Food: if children are hungry, they can't focus on learning. Lack of food and proper nutrients can also lead to health issues.
Shelter: adequate shelter and clothing are vital to a child's overall wellbeing.
Safety: ensuring that youth and their families are safe.
Please note that Nordstrom will not fund organizations with a written policy of discrimination against any person or group based on sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis.
As a company, we do not make any in-kind donations or make donations in the form of gift cards or experiences in which we underwrite expenses, merchandise, supplies, items, discounts or samples. Instead, all of our giving is done in the form of unrestricted grants.
Nordstrom's contribution to a nonprofit organization implies no further commitment unless specifically stated at the time of initial funding. We welcome your questions or inquiries—please direct these to giving@Nordstrom.com.
Gift Cards That Give
Our grantmaking is driven by our Gift Cards That Give program, through which we donate 1% of all our Gift Card sales, including amounts added to existing Gift Cards, to qualified nonprofit organizations in the communities we serve.
Our annual donation is based on Gift Card sales, including those sold at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Nordstrom.com, Nordstromrack.com and authorized retailers, from February 1 through January 31. These funds also support our Employee Charitable Match and Volunteer Program.
By 2025, our goals are to:
Invest more than $50 million in communities where we operate.
Develop and implement program-wide impact reporting.
Increase grantee perceptions of program transparency.
