How to Contour
How to Contour
Mystified by face contouring? Our video tutorial shows you how to define and highlight your features with simple contour makeup techniques.

Prep Skin
Hydrate
Create a hydrated base for your look by massaging a thin layer of moisturizer into your skin. Adjust the formula depending on season and skin type: water-based gels for warmer months and oilier skin, and thicker creams for cold weather and drier textures.
Prime
Customize your finish and extend the life of your handiwork with a primer. They're available in a wide range of formulas that reduce the appearance of pores, mattify shine or boost radiance as desired.
Even
Apply a thin layer of foundation that matches your skin tone, then blend to even out your complexion and create a uniform canvas for contouring.
Set
Using a fluffy brush, set your foundation with translucent powder. Tap off any excess before buffing onto skin.

Conceal & Brighten
Conceal Under Eye
Cover any under-eye discoloration with concealer. If dark circles are especially prominent, apply a small amount of color corrector first.
Highlight Under Eye
Using a shade two shades lighter than your skin tone, apply highlighter to the triangle directly below each eye to brighten the area even further.

Above Cheek
Fill in the area above the cheek and directly beneath the eye.

Around Lips
Trace the outline of your lips with the same highlighting shade.

Nose to Forehead
Apply a thin line of highlighter down the center of your nose and between the eyebrows.

Contour & Finish
Blend Highlighter
Using the same brush you used to apply foundation, softly blend out the edges of all highlighted areas, taking care to not remove too much.
Contour & Blend
Select a color two shades darker than your foundation and sweep across the hairline, along the sides of the nose, underneath the jawline and in the hollows of your cheeks to define bone structure. Blend carefully until there are no visible lines of demarcation.

Set Contour
Use a clean, fluffy brush and translucent powder to set blended contour in place and reduce unwanted shine in your T-zone.
Apply Blush
Lastly, swirl blush onto the apples of your cheeks to finish with a color lift. Enjoy your subtly defined, contoured look!
